Beginner Class - Rail Fence Quilt
8 classes of instruction to complete the Rail Fence pattern.
8 3-hour sessions and a pattern are included.
Students will need to bring their sewing machines and notions, material and thread for the patterns.
During these 8 sessions, students will be walked through all the steps of making a quilt. Class topics will include Rotary cutting basics, how to make a quarter inch seam, sub-cutting and squaring up blocks, layout and borders. The final 2 classes are introduction to machine quilting a binding class. These are done with sample pieces so we have permission to experiment!

1 1/2 yds Rail fabric
2 yards Focus fabric (inside and Border)
5 Fat Quarters OR 1 full yard of accent fabric
Cotton Batting
3.5 yards backing fabric
1/2 yard binding fabric
50 wt. cotton thread for piecing
Tools and Equipment:
Sessions 2-8 require a working sewing machine with a new needle. Recommend a 1/4" foot and optional walking foot
Rotary Cutter, cutting mat and acrylic ruler
Straight Pins
Quilting Pins or basting spray
Seam Ripper
Thread snips or scissors
Students will be introduced to additional tools and supplies that may be useful as the class progresses.
